GENERAL INFORMATION

The shooting sports are activities in which the entire family can participate and enjoy themselves.  Whether the activity is just plinking, participating in formal events, or just obtaining some training; White Horse Center is for you.

The Center can be considered the Marksmanship Training Center for West Virginia as there are a number of training activities in which you can participate.  For instance, High Power Rifle, Smallbore Rifle, Bullseye Pistol, Permit to Carry, and Range Officer training.  If you are not familiar with any of the above terms, come by and talk to us.

The National Guard has trained out here, and the facilities are also available for law enforcement departments.  Various groups (youth and adult) have come to the range for their first shooting experience. White Horse may just be the place for obtaining that shooting merit badge.

And we can not forget the Hunters among us.  They normally visit the Public Range to sight-in for hunting season.  During the preseason rush (October and November), Hunters may just find that there is some assistance available to sight-in that gun/scope/ammunition.  Expert assistance is available to you for zeroing your rifle.  Save time, ammo, and money.  Most rifles can be zeroed in three shots or less.

The use of the Public Range is being provided to you at no cost through an agreement with the WV Division of Natural Resources (DNR), The West Virginia State Rifle and Pistol Association, and the White Horse Firearms and Outdoor Education Center, Inc. No state funding is provided for the Public Range.  This facility is maintained by volunteers…and contributions for its maintenance and expansion would be greatly appreciated.  Please consider a donation every time that you visit the range.  A contribution box is located on the Public Range, or you can send contributions to: White Horse Center, P.O. Box 2091, Buckhannon, WV 26201

All other ranges are $10/day or $60/year.  The “annual” badge must be displayed at all times.  The fees allow access to all non-public ranges for either a day, a month, or a year.  Range badge applications can be obtained in the office or on this website, and mailed with a check to the address on the "Contact Us" page.
